Bad breath..

                  Bad breath..
.We all know that bad breath  is caused by anerobic bacteria present in the mouth, throat and tonsils. This bacteria interacts with the environment and produces volatile sulphur compounds (VSCs) and these are responsible for the bad odour. Be aware of the food which cause bad breath...
Sugars, dairy foods like milk, cheese yoghurt are retained on the tounge and in the  mouth and these produce VSCs and so do acidic foods like coffee, tomato juice, citrus juices and of course onions, garlic etc which already have sulphur compounds. It's not just foods, even coughs and colds, sinusitis can cause bad breath.
Keep the tounge clean to avoid bad breath. It's surface encourages the rapid multiplication of bacteria and because of its large surface area, the tounge is responsible for almost 80 - 85 percent of bad breath. Other than tounge cleaning here are some Dos and don'ts:
  • Avoid sugar saccharine and alcohol containing mouthwashes.
  • Keep your mouth moist, have lots of water and use sugar free chewing gums and mints.
  • Eat fibrous fruits and veggies and avoid raw onion and garlic.
  • Rinse with water after dairy products, tea and coffee.
