Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is also called the Indian Winter Cherry or Indian Ginseng, and it is widely used in Ayurveda medicine. The herb is a stout shrub that has a height of 170 centimeters. The erect branched-out plants seem to project a berry-like form bestowed with greenish or yellow flowers and red fruits. Grown in multiple parts of India such as Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, the Indian winter cherry is also cultivated in Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Health benefits of ashwagandha are plentiful but most of them revolve around stress-related complications such as arthritis, diabetes, general debility and hypertension. The herb is considered an adaptogen that helps the immune system fight any foreign invasions in the body. Many say that the plant is useful for upper respiratory tract infections and as relief in asthmatic conditions. It increases white blood cell count and prepares the body to produce antigens to fight off infections and allergies. The herb revitalizes the body by decreasing fatigue that is caused by weak body strength, which is largely due to the accumulation of negative energies in the body.
The herb can be used as a liver tonic and anti-inflammatory agent that can treat asthma, insomnia, senile dementia and ulcers. Because of its anti-inflammatory substance, it can reduce swelling and can restore blood supply at the same time. Incorporating such herbs into an Ayurvedic diet can prevent or decrease the risk of tumors in humans. It can also work as a rasayan that helps prevent early aging and can rejuvenate the entire body. The plant has excellent healing properties that can be widely used to heal wounds and injuries and can also increase the production of bone marrow.
The plant has vata-suppressant properties that help relieve stress and at the same time help nurture the nervous system. It helps the brain function better to be able to have greater ability to work. It highly improves mental concentration and mental ability to be able to gain and retain power. The plant has good penetrating powers that can be used to promote mental satisfaction and calmness and is significantly used against anxiety, cognitive and neurological disorder, inflammation and Parkinson’s disease.
Many would be happy to know that the plant is also known to restore male libido, cure impotence and can increase sperm quality and count. It is widely used in southern Asia as a powerful aphrodisiac. The plant enhances sexual powers and can promote long-lasting endurance. Aside from health benefits, the plant is used to thicken milk in India.
Many say to not take ashwagandha if the patient is suffering from congestion, is pregnant, or is breastfeeding since no formal studies have been performed to witness any possible side effects that might come out in such cases. Patients with hyperthyroidism should also not take the herb as studies suggest that it may raise thyroid hormone levels.
All in all, ashwagandha or winter cherry is an herb that improves physical energy and abilities, increases immunity to fight against colds and infections and can be used to increase sexual capacity and fertility. The plant is generally safe and should be consumed with the recommended dosages.

Bitter melon

Bitter melon is not a melon but is definitely bitter. It is a vine belonging to the Cucurbitaceae family, a relative of the cucumber, squash, and pumpkin. Its exterior is bumpy and warty, while its interior is dry with a bunch of hard yellow seeds encased in white fluffy lining. Nothing much can be said of bitter melon’s taste, except that it is deserves the adjectival part of its name that it is difficult to keep your face straight once you taste it. Although not mouth-watering, the health benefits of bitter melon are enough reasons to suffer the flavor and ingest the fruit itself.
What is bitter melon good for? Why bother eating this strange-tasting ‘vegetable’? The most popular benefit is the bitter melon’s ability to lower blood sugar level. It has hypoglycemic compounds and natural insulin-like substances which are much needed by people with diabetes.
Diabetes mellitus disrupts the production of glucose, thereby weakening the muscles. It is a debilitating disease. Bitter melon contents activate enzymes that in turn activate cells, tissues and muscles. It has been traditionally known in many countries around the world that bitter melon is good for diabetic patients.  The American Association of Naturopathic Physician also reports that bitter melon (also known as bitter gourd) lowers blood sugar level just like insulin.  Furthermore, a study conducted by the Philippine Department of Health in 2007 determined that a daily dose of 100 mg of bitter melon is like taking the anti-diabetes drug, glibenclamide, which is taken twice a day.
Other bitter melon health benefits include boosting the immune system, improving digestion and detoxifying blood, which allows the bitter gourd to treat related illnesses such as psoriasis, piles, hemorrhage, indigestion, jaundice, and cholera. It is also believed to treat hypertension, breast cancer, and, recently, has been under research for its ability to possibly stop the spread of HIV-AIDS. It’s a tall order, although its confirmation would be a great boon to humanity.
Bitter gourd has long been popular in China, India and Southeast Asia as a medicinal plant. The Chinese believe that a vegetable is more nutritious when more bitter, so it is not short of fans in China, specifically. The bitter taste of this unique Asian vegetable is what makes it an effective digestive aid. It is used to treat dyspepsia and constipation. However, it is said to cause heartburn and ulcer.
The substance quinine is what’s producing the bitter taste. It is believed around Asia that quinine is useful in preventing and treating malaria. While this has also been a traditional belief in the Caribbean for centuries, it is just now recently confirmed by laboratory research that bitter melon has anti-malarial contents.
In other parts of the world, the bitter gourd is used to treat chicken pox, measles and herpes simplex.  Other benefits of bitter gourd involve possible help for those suffering from cancer, dysentery, fever, burns, menstrual pains, scabies and other skin problems.
While there are so many health advantages of bitter gourd, people should be careful not to ingest its toxic seeds, although some people believe them to be edible. Children and pregnant women should avoid eating bitter melon seeds and too much of its fruits.
Although superlatively bitter, bitter melon is cooked and prepared in many creative ways to make it easier for people to ingest it. There are so many health benefits of bitter melon that people should try to eat it at least once.

Treating Premature Ejaculation Naturally

Treating Premature Ejaculation Naturally

The sexual problem of premature ejaculation is commonly known as ‘coming too soon’ in the popular parlance. Simply speaking, a man ejaculates too quickly while performing a sexual act, thus leaving his partner unsatisfied as his phallus goes limp before the female can hit orgasm. It often causes embarrassment to the man and results in buildup of sexual frustration in the relationship. As the female partner seldom climaxes during intercourse with a man suffering from premature ejaculation, such relationships are often doomed and end in a break up.
However, the problem of premature ejaculation is not a permanent one and can be treated with ease by using some effective Ayurveda remedies for the same. Nonetheless, in order to treat this condition, one needs to determine its root cause. The tenacity of man’s ejaculation can be affected by various factors thus causing him to ejaculate too quickly. Some of the most common reasons for premature ejaculation are listed below:
  • An overdrive of libido– This is one of the leading reasons for premature ejaculation among young men when they get involved in a sexual act for the first time. This can also be the case for those men who are not too sexually active and the arousal built up is so high that they ejaculate too soon. In fact, many a times just the touch of a woman makes the first timers ejaculate.
  • Cultural taboos associated with sex- In many cultures, sex is viewed as a taboo subject that should not even be mentioned in a group. This is something that should be done behind closed doors. In such a scenario, men with high libido often devise ways to fasten the sexual act with their partner so that they climax before being interrupted by any one. In such a case, it is very common for men to ejaculate prematurely.
  • Excessive masturbation at an early age– Apart from the taboo associated with sex in some customs, most societies do not view the exercise of masturbating as favored. Nonetheless, it does not stop boys from masturbating every time their testosterone level peaks. However, in order to avoid being reprimanded for the act, they often perform this act too quickly - usually at the time of urinating or while taking a bath. This routine may stick to them in their adult life as well and cause them to ejaculate prematurely.
  • High level of stress or tension– As in the case of most sexual disorders, stress and tension play a vital role in inducing premature ejaculation as well. If men get into a sexual act with a lot of worries in their mind, there is a tendency to ejaculate prematurely in a bid to release the pent up frustration.

Ayurveda remedies to prevent premature or rapid ejaculation

Ayurveda maintains that the problem of premature ejaculation can be treated only by adopting a holistic approach towards the same. Thus, one needs to follow a comprehensive treatment plan. This should combine rejuvenation procedures such as yoga (vajarasan, lotus and camel pose) and meditation with healthy lifestyle choices like following a balanced diet and doing breathing exercises such as pranayam to get the desired results. Some recommended ayurvedic treatments are given below:
Abhyangam: In this procedure herbal oils are applied on the entire body
Swedam:This is a type of medicated steam bath which is meant to stimulate the senses and help a man prolong his ejaculation
Elakizhi: Going for this Leaf Bundle Massage can also help to a great extent
Pizhichil :Taking a relaxing oil bath with aroma oils to calm the mind
Shiro Dharma:In this procedure, herbal oil is poured on the head to relieve stress and tension that often cause premature ejaculation.
As for diet management, it helps to follow a low calorie diet as it soothes the vata element in the body that causes rapid ejaculation. To add to it, care should be taken to keep the sugar intake low, especially if the man already suffers from diabetes.
Yet another effective way to prolong erection and delay ejaculation is by having a glass of warm milk to which a pinch of saffron has been added. You can also add a pinch of ginger and cardamom and a few grounded almonds to it to enhance your sexual performance. This drink acts as an aphrodisiac and improves sex drive as well as helps in preventing premature ejaculation. Penile massage with a mix of mustard and sesame oil also helps in such a case.

An Educational Guide about Masturbation

Posted August 26,By; MuthuKumar

Unusually high masturbation levels and ejaculation trigger acetylcholine/parasympathetic nervous functions. Stimulation above the threshold area can cause over secretion of sexual hormones and neurotransmitters like acetylcholine, dopamine and serotonin.
Plentiful and erratically high amounts of such hormones and neurotransmitters may result in excess performance of brain and adrenal glands in regards to dopamine-norepinephrine-epinephrine conversion and convert the functioning of brain and body to extremely sympathetic levels. Put in different words, there is a huge alteration of metabolic chemistry during excessive masturbation
Masturbation is a fairly healthy sexual grievance. But excesses don’t help in any aspect. Addiction to it can lead to loss of balance both psychologically and physiologically

The side effects of such changes to the body include:

  • Fatigue. You would feel lethargy all the time
  • Pain in the lower back
  • Thinning hair / Hair Loss
  • Supple / infirm Erection
  • Premature Ejaculation
  • Eye floaters or blurred vision
  • Pain in groin or testes
  • Cramp or sharp agony in the pelvic cavity or/and tail bone
Masturbation is a huge player for maintaining a normal sex life. Often, we imbibe its virtues as children. A few of us derive its beauty and pleasantness through friends who hit the game earlier. It’s nice euphoric feeling and thus we continue masturbating. It’s a harbinger to mature adult relationships and also ensures that the “sexual teen slips” due to over brewing hormones do not mislead us.
It can increase the intensity of a sexual relationship in which partners look at it as a precursor to other sexual act or even as a main act. It keeps the man/woman in us satiated at times when the relationship hits a rough phase or the partner is away or sick. Masturbation can act as an equalizer in those relationships where a partner possesses higher sexual urge than the other.

How much is excess masturbation?

While it can depend on many preconditions, it is generally believed that 2-3 times a week is a perfectly okay figure. Having said this, masturbation can be had a higher number of times if you learn the art of hitting climax without actually ejaculating. Such a practice helps in keeping bioenergy of our system intact and helps your penis in growing stronger. Also, the phase of erection would come at a lengthier time and the ejaculation volume becomes greater too.
Masturbation is advised by most doctors for enhancing the health and promoting sexual fitness. But life does not work well at extremes. Too much masturbation can cause stress, lethargy and temporary amnesia. At the tether, it might lead to scalp reduction and infertility.

Seen broadly, masturbation is neutral to metabolism

A recent study suggests that 87% of women and 95% of men have performed masturbation—however, excessive masturbation results in major alterations of brain and body. It can sever the liver’s release of enzymes that help in synthesizing neurotransmitters like acetylcholine, dopamine, and serotonin. As an addition, even the capability of liver to release enzymes succoring hormone production is hit upon. Consequently, the brain and adrenal glands produce excess dopamine, norepinephrine, epinephrine, along with other hormones and neural transmitters.
Symptoms (also called Sexual Exhaustion) can range from a debilitated functioning of liver and nervous functions and can include but are not limited to infertility at youth/ erectile dysfunction (including a supple and infirm erection) and leakage of semen. After an age, impotency can still occur and 30 percent men have statistically been suffering from it but at youth it can be owing to a combination of above mentioned factors.
Over-masturbation can result in maladies like seminal leakage; this makes the semen to sluice out of penis without any erection. These syndromes are confirmedly embarrassing and cause a lot of discomfort and sexual lethargy.
Semen leakage is a symptom of weakening of parasympathetic nerve, held responsible for maintaining the lid on ejaculation valve.

Get rid From the Compulsion to masturbate

Primary step most certainly includes reduction of the frequency of masturbation and associated ejaculations.Add soyabean and reduce caffeine. Look for nutty foods like sunflower seeds and certain cereals and lessen red meat along with dairy items. Fresh fruit juices instead of carbonated beverage work pretty well. Water aplenty is the mantra. .
There are plenty of herbs in the market that have been working exceedingly well to remove such debilities.
Ashwagandha from the Oriental world is considered to be an effective aid.You can have engrossing erections and a stronger organ if you live within the threshold. Energy levels would become higher and pain in the abdominal and testicular area would decrease.

Ayurveda for the Health of Men

Ayurveda for the Health of Men

By A.D.Muthu Kumar.August 26

In order to maintain a healthy life, it is essential for you to understand the health risks which exist for men as a result of the stress and tension that a fast paced lifestyle causes. Men are mostly prone to problems like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and stroke. Other than these, there are some health problems that are only peculiar to men such as low libido, prostate, male infertility, erectile dysfunction, low semen and low sperm count.
No matter how problematic these conditions may be; Ayurveda has emerged as an effective solution that can help you eliminate all these problems. Actually, what Ayurveda does is to explain changes in lifestyle and diet along with herbal remedies so that you develop a resistance towards these health disorders and enjoy an active and healthy life.

How can Ayurveda help you Fight Benign Prostate Enlargement?

In males, a small gland known as Prostate gland is found below the urinary bladder nearby the urethra. This gland is really necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This is because it helps in the production of a seminal fluid which gets discharge during sexual stimulation. However, if the prostate gland is enlarged, it can lead to various problems like difficulty in urination, a low sex drive and impotence. What you must know is that problems related to this gland are generally a result of kapha vitiation.
There are two ways in which you can classify the problems related to prostate gland- one is Mootrakruchra which means difficulty in urination and the second is Mootraghata which means suppression of urination. An herb known as Guggulu is known for its anti inflammatory properties which help to cure a prostate that is enlarged.
Other important herbs used for the treatment are Shilajit, Gokshura, Punarnava, Shatavri, Kanchnara, turmeric, cinnamon and ginger. Other supplements that are used by Ayurvedic practitioners are Gokshuradi Guggulu, Chandraprabha Vati, Shilajeet Vati, Gorakhmundi Ghana, Punarnava Ghana and Latakaranj Ghana.
Also, it has been observed that a yogic exercise known as Ashwini Mudra is extremely beneficial to treat enlarged prostate.

How can Ayurveda help you Fight Premature Ejaculation?

The most common sexual problem that men face is that of premature ejaculation. Undoubtedly, this problem can hamper the sexual confidence of both the partners and lead to adverse effects. Usually, this problem resolves gradually by itself. However, in case it persists for a longer period of time, Ayurveda can prove to be of some help.
A remedy that is prescribed for the problem of premature ejaculation is decided after a detailed analysis of the case, its symptoms and the constitution type of the patient. Your physical, psychological and emotional make up is analyzed and then based on that a remedy is suggested.  This way you save yourself from unwanted side effects.
Homeopathy has 48 different types of remedies to offer you in order to treat the problem of premature ejaculation. Some of the most common out of these remedies are Phosphoric acid, Gelsemium, Calcarea carbonica, Staphisagria, Agnus castus, Nux vomica, Sulphur, Conium, Zincum, Lycopodium, and Selenium.
In Ayurveda, the doses used to delay ejaculations are called Stambakha. Some of the most common of these drugs are Ashwagandha Churna, Jatiphala (Myristica Fragrans), Speman tablet (Himalaya Drugs) and Tentex Forte tablet (Himalaya Drugs).
Apart from these herbs, it might help you to avoid smoking and drinking, take a healthy diet and exercise daily.
It is important for you to tell your doctor all the problems that you face honestly and frankly because only then can the doctor guide you in the right direction.

History of Ayurveda

History of Ayurveda

August 26, 2011 by Muthu kumar

Five thousand years ago in the magnificent Himalayas, one of the greatest sages of India, Srila Vyasadeva wrote down the Vedas for the first time, this included a branch which is called Ayurveda: “The science of Life” (Ayur means life and Veda means science).
29 web pic 202x300 History of AyurvedaThe Vedas came from an oral tradition that reached back into antiquity. Srila Vyasadev entrusted the original copies of the texts with his most erudite and enlightened disciples, who, along with other great sages, inaugurated a very long sacrificial ceremony for hundreds of years for the purification and blessings of the entire world. Remember people lived for one to two thousand years back then. During that time, they studied and discussed these ancient texts with their own disciples, who wrote commentaries, and expanded and developed these original and eternal truths without ever altering them.
During the years after the conclusion of this sacrifice, copies of this perfect Vedic texts were placed in various temples and libraries throughout India. They were written down in the original Sanskrit language for the benefit of the general population. (Sanskrit is the father of Latin and most of the world languages).

A Kidney Story

A Kidney Story

 By Muthu kumar,August 26

Lately I have been getting more and more phone calls asking if we have anything for the kidneys. It’s funny how certain conditions show up more at different times of the year. We seriously take or kidneys for granted. I know if I hadn’t seen my close family members suffer from kidney failure, I would have never even given them a second thought. I find this organ just doesn’t get enough credit like it’s friend the liver.
The Kidneys serve the body as a natural filter for the blood, and it removes waste and then is transferred to the bladder. They  are  also responsible for the re-absorption of water, glucose, and amino acids. They also produce hormones and the enzyme Renin.
During the summer it’s is important to drink more due to high temperatures, but this can also make the kidneys over active, especially if your enjoying a lot of fresh juices and alcoholic beverages on your camping trip. Sometimes, it’s just a hereditary thing and taking care of your body is a must.
Just recently a customer walked into the shop and complained of having lower back pain, kidney stones and frequent urination for two years! Ouch. She had tried so many other herbal products and really was trying to avoid surgery. Little did she know we had the answer in a jar just ten feet away from her. She was eager to try the Kidney Support #19- Gokshura Rasayana, and so she took a chance and left with it. About three weeks later, she came back with a big smile on her face and says ” I feel 80% better! Give me another two, please.” This gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
This is why we are here. We also love hearing first hand from our customers about their experiences. Anyways, There is a little kidney story for you.
